An index of every common stock listed on the Nasdaq exchange, around 3,000 of them, weighted by how much each is worth. It leans hard toward technology, so it runs further than the S&P 500 in both directions.
Why we track it
It has the longest clean public record through the 1995–2001 dot-com cycle, which is why the closing exhibit draws the current path against that one.
