The Market With a Hundred Faces

When you hear about the market being up or down on any given day, that's really just the cover of a very complicated book.

The stock market is a busy place. You can tell by the way people talk about it.

On any given day, you may hear that the market is jittery. Or bullish. Or in a nosedive. Or narrow. Or mixed.

These broad descriptions often fail to capture the full variety of things going on in the market. Generalizations about what "the market" is like are about as accurate as talking about what people are like. There are always plenty of exceptions to the rule.

When it comes to investing, those exceptions can mean opportunity. Or risk.
